Coaching in Townsville to rebuild how you stand, walk and move.
Nobody decides how their body ends up.
Your body is being shaped right now, whether you're paying attention or not. Whatever positions you spend the most time in, whatever movements you repeat, that's what it's being built for — and it doesn't ask whether any of it is good for you. Right now, nothing is directing that but habit.
Your body adapts to your habits as a whole. The positions you hold most often and the movements you repeat pull something out of position, and the rest of you reorganises around it — tightening here, slackening there, until the whole structure has rearranged itself to accommodate the misalignment. You feel it somewhere you'd never connect to the cause. It's one structure, and it's only ever as good as its organisation.
This is worth caring about because it shows up everywhere else. What you see in the mirror after years of work. Whether training makes you better or just makes you stronger at being crooked. Whether you're still moving well at 80. And even your energy, your mood, and how present you are with the people around you. Whatever direction your body is already going, it accelerates. And left alone, that direction is tighter, more compensated, less capable.
Which is the argument for being intentional about it. That's what I work on — not one part at a time, but the organisation underneath all of it. You can't change what you can't see, so it starts with seeing what your body is actually doing. Everything after that is built from what we find.
How it works
1 - Biomechanics Assessment
I film your gait (your walk) in slow motion and photograph your posture, then take you through the footage. Dysfunctions invisible at normal speed become obvious. You'll leave seeing your body clearly, most likely for the first time.
2 - Myofascial Release (MFR)
Restricted tissue has to be addressed before anything else can change. I teach you targeted self-massage that releases tension around the structures your assessment flagged, and we dedicate time to it in every session.
3 - Corrective Exercises
Corrective exercises chosen for what your assessment actually found. They teach your core, glutes and upper back — the three pillars of posture — to fire in the right order and hold, before we ask your body to do anything complex.
4 - Functional Movement
Corrective exercises only matter if they transfer. I build them into the patterns humans are made for — standing, walking, sprinting, throwing — until the drills stop being exercises and start being how you move.
5 - Lifestyle and recovery
The change happens in the hours you're not with me. I coach you on carrying correct tension into daily life, plus nutrition and recovery, with messaging access between sessions.
What actually changes.
Posture, alignment, and biomechanics do more for how you look than body composition ever will. When your body holds correct tension without you thinking about it, things change fast. Glutes that actually load start to fill out. A core that's engaged shows tone that endless ab work never produced. An upper back that's holding tension brings out definition you didn't know you had.
You don't just look better. You move with a spring in your step, because the tension is finally in the right places. Your body handles more before it complains. And you start catching yourself — how you're standing in a queue, how you're sitting at your desk — until holding a good position stops being something you have to remember and just becomes how you are.
About Coach David
I can't stop watching how people move. Walking through a shopping centre, standing in a queue — I see the same things over and over. Hips shifted or tilted out of alignment. Shoulders rolled forward. People walking in a way their body settled on years ago and never questioned. Once you can see this, you see it everywhere.
I got into this the way most people in it do — through my own body. A shoulder that clicked and ached. Foot pain. A stiff neck. A tight lower back. Every one of them treated as its own separate problem by someone who only looked at that part, and every one of them coming back. I lived that loop for years before I understood what was driving it.
I wasn't after anything complicated. I wanted out of pain and I wanted to move freely. Functional Patterns, a training system developed by Naudi Aguilar, was the first thing that gave me a straight answer about why I couldn't. It's built on fundamental principles about how humans are made to move — standing, walking, sprinting, throwing — and works backwards from there. The language is precise and the movements are more precise still. It made sense to me immediately.
So I went all in on it. The myofascial release gave me relief straight away, but the real change came slowly — posture and movement mechanics improving over months, each bit of progress making the next bit easier. Progress came in more than one place at once, which nothing treating me part by part had ever managed.
That's why I've completed the Functional Patterns Human Foundations course and I'm continuing through their education toward becoming a Human Biomechanics Specialist. I've been a personal trainer since 2021. Myofascial release had such a profound effect on me that I went on to teach it at yoga and wellness studios and build my own course on it, the Myofascial Release Masterclass. Posture and gait are where I'm building my expertise now.
Changing how I stand and move changed more than my body. How you operate and feel inside your body carries into everything else — your energy, your patience, what you're willing to take on. It's why I coach. Not because posture and biomechanics are interesting, because I know what it's like to live in a body where something was always off, some kind of discomfort always present, and I know what it's like to have that gone. I want other people to have that.
What it costs.
Coaching starts at a minimum of $200 per week, which is two sessions. Three is where it really works — enough repetition that the pattern starts holding between sessions instead of resetting.
Sessions run from a private studio in Mount Louisa, Townsville, at these times:
Weekday mornings, 5:30am–7:30am
Weekday evenings, 5:30pm–7:30pm
Weekend mornings, 8:30am–10:30am
Weekend afternoons, 3:30pm–5:30pm
Every year you wait, the pattern gets more established. The best time to start was ten years ago. The second best is now.
